You finally made it!
If I conducted a short poll to ask you guys what brought you here I bet the majority of you would say you were simply bargain hunters looking to save a buck or two on the latest video game systems and titles. That answer would be fair enough. Absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of there but what I find more interesting are the reasons the rest of you decide to pay me a visit...
Reliving childhood memories? Something got into you today and now you can't seem to get that old game out of your head. Your mind is forcing you back to your childhood and won't set you free until you have consumed enough useless information to fry your brain. It's not your fault really. You used video games for hours at a time and addictions die hard. The good news is that I've got enough videos and links to keep you busy for days. The bad news is your trip down "Old Video Game Lane" won't end until you feel incredibly old or until you break down and buy the damn thing and play it for a day or two.- Last generation gamer? You are very wise. You come here to find games for the slightly older system you still play regularly but that are not sold in stores anymore. You've got it all figured out. You know the only reason new systems come out is to make the old ones obsolete so you will have no choice but to upgrade and buy all your favorite games all over again. But you're not falling for it. You know the internet is where it's at! And now you've found this site. Ha! It's OK. Go ahead and use me to foil their master plan. I don't mind.
Collector perusing for hidden gems? It is fairly well established that the original Magnavox Odyssey is a must have but aside from that, vintage video game collectors are a unique bunch with unique buying criteria. Some just like the look of the old systems and don't care if they work. Others insist upon pristine condition and operability. Still other can't resist buying old systems, taking them apart and building new things with them. What do you want? Original boxes? New, never been used. All accessories included? Manuals? Whatever you consider a valuable score I am here to help you find it.- Doing research for a school history report? What can I say? Considering I can remember when most of these systems came out - the idea of this is just plain painful. Nonetheless, I have quite a collection of links to an insane amount of information on just about anything related to video games. You'll find history, stories, picture galleries and all kinds of video game shenanigans. Just do me a favor and try not to use the word "old" too many times in your report. Remember, the word you are looking for is "vintage" damn it!
Shopper? Of course a few of you actually come here to shop for used video games. (Imagine that!) If that is you, I have busted my butt organizing the site in a way that makes it incredibly easy for you to actually buy the games and systems you come here to buy. If for whatever reason you don't find what you want here I'll show you other places to look so you can hurry up and get your game on. (My competitors love me for this by the way.)
No matter your reason, you've come to the right place. Enjoy your look around and good luck finding the used video game you've been hunting for.
Video Game History
On each video game maker's page you will find a little bit of information about the company that made the systems you love. I have been enjoying learning about all these different companies and am facinated at the ups and downs they have all had over the years. On these pages you will find everything from Nintendo with its 100 plus year-old (and slightly bizarre) history to Tiger Telematics with its "15 minutes of fame".Oh, and don't think that this site is any where near finished. There are literally a HUNDRED PLUS video game systems to add - and I will - as time permits. I am just one person afterall. As it is, I still have a lot of work to do on the individual system pages but I'll get there.
Video Game Videos
Wherever possible I have embedded vids of the video game system reviews, demos and commercials I find. I hope they bring back great memories for you or supply you with information you are looking for. The goal was to select videos with little to no profanity but as you will see that wasn't always possible or desired. (Hey, some of the worst mouths seem to make the funniest videos.) Nonetheless, enjoy and please tell a friend about this site.Video Game Resources
I am learning more and more as I build this site and what I share here is pretty much just the more interesting things that I discover. For everything else, rather than simply spew stuff that you've probably already read a million times I have chosen to link to web pages made by people far smarter than me. Like the videos, I will be on the look out for more to share whenever possible. Finally, you will notice that a lot of the gamers in the videos I put around this site often talk about finding their treasures on eBay. eBay is a MONSTOR resource for used video games but you have to know how to search it well in order to find exactly what you want. I kind of have a knack for finding hard to find items on the internet (especially on eBay) so I have put search links to eBay for every video game system showcased on this site.
It took me a while to come up with just the right search terms for each and every system and some pages are still a work in progress but I hope you will notice how - for the most part - they cut through the crap and get you to the good stuff.
