Amiga

Why in the world is Commodore on a used game site?

Well, you remember how I told you that Atari started out making "home computers" and ended up making "video game systems"? A lot of electronics companies tried launching their own video game systems. In Commodore's case it was the Amiga CD32 and it was a "do or die" project. The Amiga didn't "do" so Commodore "died".

Commodore Game Center That's not to say that the Amiga CD32 was the cause of Commodore's demise. Just that it didn't amount to the miracle that Commodore needed in order to survive. A combination of bad debt, bad luck and bad timing killed Commodore as we knew it.

Like other popular companies that fizzle out, the Commodore brand is still alive. Sure, it's been bought and sold a few times but that is to be expected when you have a name that comes with the history of Commodore's. The Commodore brand is currently co-owned by Commodore International Corporation and Commodore Gaming.

Time will tell if these companies will decide to keep Commodore's video game console days in the past.
